Muddy Waters, Albert King, Howlin' Wolf, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Bob Marley, Toots & the Maytals, and Burning Spear are some artists/bands I'd recommend.

I also like generic rock, blues, jazz, VGM, and punk.

Pop and world are tolerable, rap and techno are good to dance to, but rock and metal will get your blood pumping. If you want something with good beat and tempo, listen to some Edgar Winter Group. If you feel like you want to groove, listen to Santana - most of his songs sound like porn themes, so it works in the bedroom. ;) And if you just want your ass kicked, throw in Pantera or Hellyeah. Also, please note that while Dragonforce is awesome and both guitarists are crazy good, Yngwie Malmsteen is the guitar enthusiast's hero. He used to shred at such incredible speeds that nature couldn't allow it and he just so happened to crush his shredding hand in a car accident. But seriously? I think he could pwn Vai anyday.

I took a bunch of albums off my mom's rack and have been listening to those lately. Folly is the music rack that has more greatest hits albums than it does studio records...!

Right now it's mostly soul, rocksteady & reggae, and heaps of this newfound Brazilian stuff. Also 60s/70s rock of various kinds. I try to spice things up with all manner of odd stuff I pick up from the blogs.

Also love: Creedence Clearwater Revivial, T-Rex, The Beatles, Spencer Davis Group (their one good song 'Gimme Some Lovin' is excellent), The Romantics, many others. I also like the underrated Canadian band Moxy Fruvous. Plus a few Australian artists like The Cat Empire, John Williamson, etc.

My favorite kinda music is Rock i guess, i prefer lead singers with a higher voice as it sounds better to me. Intricate guitar playing is a massive plus, decent drumming etc. I cant really say im a fan of R&B although i seem to like more radio music than i used to, probably from overexposure to it. Favorite band is Coheed and Cambria, although i seem to have gone off listening to music in general lately, i barely listen to them or anything as much as i used to. But if they were to release an album tomorrow im positive id be listening to it constantly. Least favorite band - Kaiser Chiefs, absolute pile of wank.
